Fiction Prompt For Friday December 28, 2018

FICTION PROMPT

In “How to Write a Family Newsletter Your Friends Will Actually Read,” New York Times writer Anna Goldfarb offers suggestions for the dos and don’ts of penning a family holiday newsletter. Perhaps you receive these missives annually from a friend or relative with a curated list of their accomplishments that year, or you participate voluntarily or involuntarily in one. For this week’s exercise, write a fictionalized holiday dispatch—maybe from someone with mischievous and beloved pets, parents that detail each of their children’s achievements, or that pays tribute to a departed relative. For tone, take in consideration Goldfarb’s advice: “Figure out whether you want this piece of writing to be preserved for future generations—a keepsake—or if you want this to be a throwaway piece of mail—scan, chuckle and toss.”

Old Childhood Diary Entry For Wednesday May 8, 1995

Wednesday May 8, 1995

Dear Sherlock Holmes,

Today I went to see 3 movies for 2.75$ at Paradise Theatre. Those movies were: Dumb & Dumber, Jury Duty & Drop Zone. Drop Zone was the best. I loved it. Jury was good and Dumb & Dumber was truly awful. Yesterday I stayed up late watching Star Trek. Of course, I took notes. (Just don’t ask me why, huh?) It is getting late, and I need my sleep. So…, Good night. Love, TKT GRAD 96!

MEMOIR BYTE 11

MEMOIR BYTE 11

I’m in Montreal. It’s Easter. I’m visiting my grandparents in Toronto. My cousin Marta is also there with her parents. My Uncle Moe & Aunt Kristine are there with my three younger cousins. We’re having a good time. We play. We laugh. We eat a ton of holiday food. At one point Marta & I end up in the upstairs bathroom. I do not remember why or how. But the door gets locked and we can’t get out. We call for help. Marta’s father Oleg comes to the rescue. He climbs in through the window. Somehow he finds a way to unlock the door. We are able to get out and join our family again. It’s an Easter I’ll never forget.

Reflection For Saturday July 30, 2022

Saturday July 30, 2022

Yesterday I found a super cool orange & black feather in an alley way near my house. I googled to find it’s from a Northern Flicker bird part of the woodpecker family. I’ve seen those birds in my neighbourhood. They are awesome looking. I love to watch them. And I reflect how grateful & how blessed I am to have found such a cool item. Things are awesome!

Prayer Journal For Wednesday July 20, 2022

Wednesday July 20, 2022

Dear God,

Let me rebrand my writing style. Let me rethink how I write. Let me rethink my old stories. Let me write super short, super sharp pieces. Let me be the master of super short stuff. Let my words be sharp, clear, concise. Let my short pieces be complete with meaning. Let what I do write tell everything & be an inspiration to all. I give it all to you to deal with. In your hands. Please listen to my prayer.

To God For Wednesday July 20, 2022

Wednesday July 20, 2022

Dear God,

Why is there still plastic around? If they are banning plastic, why do I still see plastic forks & stir sticks in stores? Why are they still selling garbage bags? Why are many items made of plastic & covered in plastic? Why are there plastic coffee lids? Why are pens made out of plastic? How do we get rid of all the plastic? How do we save our dying planet, God? Answer?
