Old Childhood Diary Entry For Saturday November 19, 1994

Saturday November 19, 1994

Dear Sherlock Holmes,

I’ve met the Finance Minister and got his autograph in my Autograph book. I’ve joined New Shoots and am determined to go on the exchange trip to Japan. It’s almost one am and I need my rest. It’s snowing outside. Love, TKT

Prayer Journal For Friday May 20, 2022

Friday May 20, 2022

Dear God,

Help me manage my DISH arthritis. Help me incorporate swimming once a week into my schedule. Let the hot tub help with my bones which give me excruciating pain 24/7/365. Let this help with the management of my weight. Let this help with my current lifestyle. Let swimming be a good way to help my arthritis. I give it all to you to deal with. In your hands. Please listen to my prayer.

To God For Friday May 20, 2022

Friday May 20, 2022

Dear God,

What is it with the cold weather we are having right now? Why is it so cold in May? Where is all the warm weather? Why are we having cold weather right now? What will happen to all the food that is growing right now? Can you turn the heat up a bit for us? Can you help make all the plants grow? Can you stop the global climate change that is messing up the entire planet? Is there any up for the world, God?

Old Childhood Diary Entry For Monday November 7, 1994

Monday November 7, 1994

Dear Sherlock Holmes,

Today the Finance Minister Paul Martin is coming to school to speak to us. There will be TV cameras and everything. I believe I am in love, yes, in love with Kris Vargas. It’s hard to tell everybody that I don’t like boys when in reality I do. Can’t they see that it is hard for me? Don’t they know I have feelings and get hurt too? I know I don’t have the classic sign(s) of being in love: Heart Thumping. But I do know I think (or can’t help think) about Kris most of the time. I don’t admit it for fear of being of rejected. So I keep it to myself. It’s easier that way and no one gets hurt. But what if I tell Kris I like him (or more than like)? Will he reject me? Why do I feel I have to act cold around anyone? Is it really because of fear of being rejected? I have to get ready for school before my nosy mother ask me what I’m doing. Like for me to know and for her to find out. More later. Love, TKT

Word Of The Day For Monday January 29, 2018

Monday January 29, 2018

olid

PRONUNCIATION: (O-lid)

MEANING: adjective: Foul-smelling.

ETYMOLOGY: From Latin olere (to smell), which also gave us the opposite of today’s word: redolent. Earliest documented use: 1680.

USAGE: “It was dark and musty, the carpet giving off an olid smell of mildew.” Chris R. Jamison; The Chesler Legacy; Writer’s Showcase; 2000.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: It is my belief that the writer, the free-lance author, should be and must be a critic of the society in which he lives. It is easy enough, and always profitable, to rail away at national enemies beyond the sea, at foreign powers beyond our borders who question the prevailing order. But the moral duty of the free writer is to begin his work at home; to be a critic of his own community, his own country, his own culture. If the writer is unwilling to fill this part, then the writer should abandon pretense and find another line of work: become a shoe repairman, a brain surgeon, a janitor, a cowboy, a nuclear physicist, a bus driver. -Edward Abbey, naturalist and author (29 Jan 1927-1989)
