Old Childhood Diary Entry For Friday April 29, 1994

Friday April 29, 1994

Dear Sherlock Holmes,

On Monday, May 2, 1994 Milda Tante is coming to see me. I’m also going to see Die Fledermaus Row 3, Seat 50. We had a blackout today so we went home early. One Wednesday, I took Grace to see Mrs. Doubtfire and treated her to a banana split. Opera is expecting kittens soon. I’m going to watch TV now.
Love, TKT

Prayer Journal For Monday April 18, 2022

Monday April 18, 2022

Dear God,

Please help me to hold my tongue. Do not let me say exactly what I think to other people lest I offend others. Let me always be diplomatic with others. Let me be polite, not rude. Let others come into my space, becoming life long lasting friendships. Let me create friendships, never divide. Let others see me as a person to come to. I give it to you to deal with. In your hands. Please listen to my prayer.

To God For Monday April 18, 2022

Monday April 18, 2022

Dear God,

Why is there so much plastic in the world? Why is 99% of everything either made of plastic or covered in/with plastic? What is it doing to the environment? Are we not using plastic for where we can use something else? How did the planet survive before plastic was invented? Did the planet not survive just fine without plastic? So why can we not survive without plastic today? Can you answer, God?

What a poem means to me I
By: Tara Kimberley Torme

A poem is a crystal. It’s fragments reflecting the many faces of our emotions.
A poem is television. If you don’t like what you see, you can change the meaning of what it is.
A poem is a magical sky that spans the gateway to your enchanted garden of thoughts.
A poem is like the ocean; it can be calm and peaceful, yet turbulent and stormy
A poem is like hockey. Exciting. Full of actions.
Like clouds, a poem can take many shapes.
A poem is like an M&M that keeps you coming back for more.
A poem is the imaginative expression of strong feeling
A poem is like an ostrich with its head in the sand and its plumes fluffed with the wind
Reading poetry however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it after all, a place for the genuine.
A poem should not mean but be.
A poem is someone lost in time, is treading the path barefoot, without a sound.
A bird is a poem that talks of the end of cages.

Word Of The Day For Wednesday October 30, 2019

Scheherazade

PRONUNCIATION: (shuh-her-uh-ZAHD, -ZAH-duh, -dee)

MEANING: noun: A storyteller, especially one who tells long, entertaining stories.

ETYMOLOGY: After Scheherezade, the wife of a king in One Thousand and One Nights. Earliest documented use: 1851.

NOTES: In One Thousand and One Nights, a collection of stories from the Middle East, the king Shahryar discovers his wife being unfaithful. He learns that his brother’s wife is unfaithful as well. He kills his wife and decides to take revenge on all women by marrying a virgin every day and having her executed the next morning so she never gets an opportunity to cheat. One day it’s the turn of Scheherezade, the vizier’s daughter, to be the bride. She asks the king if she could say farewell to her sister Dunyazad first. The king agrees and the sister, who has been prepared in advance, asks Scheherezade to tell a story. The story is engrossing and the king is awake listening. Scheherezade stops the story just before dawn saying there’s no time left to finish. The king spares her life to find out what happened. The next night she finishes the story and starts another, even more captivating story. And so it goes for 1001 nights and by that time the king has fallen in love with her beauty and intelligence and makes
her the queen. Sheherazade is the patron saint of television script writers, who decide just where to put commercial breaks in a TV show.

USAGE: “Yes, Cusk is a Scheherazade here, holding us fast with stories.” Karen Brady; Framework of Narrator’s Life Emerges Through Others’ Stories; Buffalo News (New York); Jan 31, 2015.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Great literature is simply language charged with meaning to the utmost possible degree. -Ezra Pound, poet (30 Oct 1885-1972)

Sunday April 17, 2022

Dear God,

Help me to be a super good, kind person. Help me to be kind towards others. Let me see the good in all people, not the bad. Let me be able to make my own choices in friendships. Let others in my current social circle remain good permanent life long friends. Let those people never go away from me & be there for me when I need them. I give it all to you to deal with. In your hands. Please listen to my prayer.
