Title: GERMAN POTATO PANCAKES

Yield: 4 servings
6 lg Potatoes -- mashed
2 Well-beaten
1 1/2 tb Flour
1/4 ts Baking powder
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 sm Grated onion
Eggs
Mix above ingredients.
Drop by spoonfuls into 1/4 inch cooking oil.
Turn to brown on both sides.
This makes about 12 (3 inch) cakes.
Good served with applesauce.

POETRY PROMPT
Have you ever listened to a plant? Adrienne Adar’s “Sonic Succulents: Plant Sounds and Vibrations” exhibit at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, in which plants are attached with sensors to record their vibrations, revolves around the sonic life of plants, presenting recordings of their sounds to be heard by visitors and other plants, and exploring human reactions, perspectives, and relationships with plants and the natural world. Listen to some sample recordings, and write a poem that imagines what transpires during plant communication. Is the content urgent, mundane, profound, or silly? Perhaps play with arrangements of spacing, language, syntax, and sound to create an atmospheric piece that reflects your vision of plants in conversation.

For Christmas yesterday, some hoop earrings, a cat barrette, an opal necklace, lots of stationary, 2 makeup bags, a writing pad, and a tape. Why do people sell Christmas stuff with Halloween stuff? Why do people put out their trees in November & not in December? Why are people pushing the Christmas holidays? Do people even know the true origins of Christmas? Do they even know the true St. Nicholas on December 6? Do people know the real stories behind all the traditions & foods? Do people really know what is being celebrated? Do people really even understand Christmas – that it’s not about stuff or consumerism?

Garlic Parmesan Bread
This bread fills the whole house with a mouth watering “can’t wait for it to finish” smell. I love it.
1 pkg yeast
2 1/2 tbs nonfat dry milk
2/3 cups (1 3oz can) Grated Parmesan Cheese
2 1/3 cups better for bread flour
2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp honey
2 1/2 tbs olive oil (or other vegetable oil)
1 cup water
Add everything above in listed order, select white bread, hit start.
