Today I woke up @ around 4:40 am & went onto the computer ASAP. I enjoyed the last two slices from last night’s spinach pizza. It was super delicious. There’s a ton of filing @ work for me to do which keeps me plenty busy. My favorite coworker Jaimie Willows was there so I was able to talk to her. And I purchased my BBQ ticket for my work’s annual BBQ in July. That’s always fun – it’s food, chill out, talk to people etc. I’m reading the complete haiku poems by Basho from the 17th Century Japan. He’s the saint of haiku poetry.

Dear Judy,

Today in English we finished watching The Chocolate War video. I wrote the component test in French. Social Studies, PE were boring. I got 41 out of 50 on my math test. Otherwise math was boring. Nothing more to say. Love, Tara Kimberley Torme

FICTION PROMPT

Earlier this month, a man in southeast Georgia photographed what appeared to be the remains of a mysterious sea creature on the shore of a wildlife refuge beach. The photographs were sent to several media outlets and analyzed by marine scientists who were unable to verify the identity of the animal. Some surmised that it might be a hoax, possibly created to perpetuate the local legend of the Altamaha-ha, a hissing, serpentlike river monster. Write a short story featuring a legendary creature of your own making, perhaps one that is enshrouded in regional folklore. What happens when a character discovers evidence of its existence and tries to prove that it’s real? What do your characters’ attitudes and responses to the sighting reveal about their personalities?
